One could argue that persecution is not encouraging. And certainly, there is a lot to be said for this view. But it is my belief, just as it was for the apostles, that persecution can be encouraging. In fact, I believe that persecution not only is coming, but will strengthen the church, or will be the thing that begins to sift the chaff from the wheat, that Jesus' 2nd coming might be welcomed by a refined church.
A couple in the U.K., along with others, are currently being prosecuted for standing up for their belief that Jesus is the son of God.
